The graphic links below show portions of Historic California Maps. You can click on each map to see a larger
version of the map. Emphasis added when needed to show the
viewer the location of Ryer Island by Steamboat Slough, as the
waterways were usually not labeled in the maps. Note that the
waterway currently known as Steamboat Slough was a primary route
between San Francisco and Sacramento in the 1850's to at least
1930's, since it was a more direct and therefore faster route.
