Soils tests and seismic data:  Examples of Scientist and/or research papers listing soils samples at "Ryer Island" by Steamboat Slough when the samples were really taken on "Long Point Island", based on the latitude and longitude data also provided with the soils samples.  The result is that many other reports are compiled and published, each time reporting the soils test conducted on Long Point Island as if the soils tests were from the REAL Ryer Island.  This can have an important and expensive impact on the residents and businesses of Ryer Island, because incorrect seismic data may lead to incorrect seismic hazard mapping which results in insurance pricing based on the incorrect data.  The same report has been referenced for reports on potential levee failure in case of earthquakes and/or floods also.  See for yourself:  go to the California mapping website and put in coordinates:

*GPS for Long Point Island mistakenly called "Ryer" in the reports below: 38.04.45  122.01.16 according to the source data docs

The following examples are real-life instances showing why the correct Delta Island names need to be used consistently:   PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION  Also see GPS conflicts  and Links

1995 data and samples report

Note the map, coordinates used and summary of Ryer Island data with reference to ROE Island.  Data and map were used in 1999 report by Unruh, etc.

This report published January 2006 details the location soil samples were taken.  The map and latitude/longitude data shows samples were taken on Long Point Island next to Roe Island.  However, the written summary refers to Ryer Island.  This report and its data has been cited at least 20 times in other similar documents Digital Compilation of Thrust and Reverse Fault Data for the Northern California Map Database:  Collaborative Research with William Lettis & Associates, Inc., and the U.S. Geological Survey.  January 2006.  Report link.  Note pages 4, 13 and 14.  It is clear the "Ryer" this report is talking about is the one next to Roe Island in the Suisun Bay area.  Data sourse lists Unruh,J.R and Hecto,S (1999)

Hydrodynamic and Suspended-Solids Concentration Measurements in Suisun Bay, California, 1995. but reported in 1999 which related to Ryer Island-Suisun Bay ane referred to in many different reports related to the current plans for the OTHER Ryer Island, bordered by Steamboat and Cache Sloughs.

Page 3 of the introduction shows a map of the location of the soils tests.    "Ryer" is the label but Long Point Island is the actual physical location.  Page 5 gives coordinates for the island the sample was taken from:
